Privacy Policy

OtaNox is a free, ad-free anime streaming site built by an individual, not a company. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run your account, we don't show ads, and we don't sell your data to anyone.
Information we collect
Account information. When you register with an email and password, we store your email address and an authentication record so you can log back in. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never stored by us in plain text.
Third-party sign-in. If you choose to sign in with Google, MyAnimeList, or AniList, we receive a basic profile from that provider — typically a name, an account identifier, an avatar image, and (for Google) an email address. We use this only to create or locate your OtaNox account. We do not receive your password from any provider, and we do not post anything to those accounts without your action.
Usage data. To power features like Continue Watching, your watchlist, and notifications, we store your watch history, progress within episodes, saved titles, and read/unread state for notifications, tied to your account.
Analytics. We use privacy-first, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic. This does not track individuals across sites.
How we use your information
Your data is used to operate the site: authenticating you, syncing your watchlist and progress across devices, sending in-app notifications about anime you follow, and maintaining basic account records. That's the whole list.
AniList list sync
If you connect your AniList account for list syncing, we store an access token so we can mirror changes to your list on your behalf. You can disconnect at any time, and you can revoke OtaNox's access directly from your AniList account settings.
What we don't do
We don't run advertising networks, we don't sell or rent your personal data, and we don't build advertising profiles. We don't access files, photos, or anything on your device beyond what you explicitly upload or provide.
Third-party services
OtaNox relies on a few providers to function: Firebase (authentication and database), Netlify (hosting), and the OAuth providers you choose to sign in with (Google, MyAnimeList, AniList). Video is embedded from third-party sources; those embeds may set their own cookies outside our control.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the link below and we'll remove it.
Children
OtaNox is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
